Get The Right Parts When You Know Your VIN

A Vehicle Identification Number, commonly abbreviated to VIN, is a unique serial number used by the automotive industry to identify individual motor vehicles. Since 1981, VINs consist of 17 characters, each of which reveals a details of your specific vehicle. Encoded in these 17 characters are specifics including Year, Make, Model, Country of Manufacture, the assembly plant, the body style, the restraint system, the engine type, etc.

There are many web sites that will “decode” your VIN and give you the details of your vehicle. Just search for “VIN decoder”

The Auto Barn parts lookup now allows you to enter your vehicle’s VIN bypassing the need to answer time consuming questions regarding your vehicle’s year, make, model, engine, body style and trim level, etc.

The VIN is most commonly located on the driver’s side dashboard viewable through the front windshield. Other possible locations are inside the driver’s door jam, in the trunk beneath the spare tire, under the hood on front of the engine block, or back wheel well.
